Baguio City has decided to open its borders for more tourists. All visitors from Luzon are welcome to travel to the summer capital starting October 22, 2020.
Initially, only visitors from Baguio City, La Union, Pangasinan, Ilocos Sur, and Ilocos Norte were allowed to enter Baguio for leisure. With the expected influx of more travelers, a maximum visitor cap has been set at 200 tourists per day.
The city will be monitoring the entry of tourists via the Baguio Visitor Information and Travel Assistance or VIS.I.T.A app. Tourists must also use the app to submit other necessary travel documents. Since the VIS.I.T.A’s app launch on September 22, 2020, there have been a total of 2,000 registrations and 200 travel requests.
Travel restrictions will be more relaxed, with the local government no longer requiring visitors to book tours with a DOT-accredited agency. This would allow more freedom of movement for tourists. However, all guests must still book their accommodations with DOT-accredited establishments only.
