THERE IS NO STOPPING THE SUBWAY
Despite the challenges brought about by the Coronavirus Disease (2019) global pandemic, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) remains resolute in fast-track and realizing various transformational infrastructure projects, which will usher the country and its people into the future.
One of these is the realization of the country’s first-ever underground mass transport system—the Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP).
Yesterday, we have witnessed another historic event and remarkable milestone for the Subway, as the first of six (6) actual Tunning Boring Machines (TMBs) was featured during the Virtual Media Factory Tour and Factory Acceptance Test in Japan.
The TBMs—which are vital in building the Subway–are set to arrive beginning January next year, marking the commencement of the construction of the project’s partial operability section. This is what we have been working on, to move forward and make great strides, even amid the disruption and chaos created by the current pandemic.
As DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade stressed yesterday, “Perhaps, because of what has happened, because of the pandemic created by COVID-19, many people might have thought that the Subway Project is gone. Today, they are in for a big surprise. Because in the quietness, in the attitude of working quietly, notwithstanding the pandemic, lo and behold! They are now surprised to see that the Subway is not forgotten.
”There’s no stopping the DOTr to realize and deliver the ‘Project of the Century’.There’s no stopping the DOTr to make the Filipino dream come true.
