Achieving more than half of its construction, Palawan’s Cruise Port facility will soon further boost the tourism of MIMAROPA.
The Puerto Princesa City Cruise Port Facility Project, whose phases 3 and 4 are ongoing, is soon put the scenic Province of Palawan on the popular list of international cruise destinations.
Implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways Regional Office 4B, the Cruise Port Facility is a P1.5 billion project which consists of seven (7) phases and includes the construction of a 500-meter wharf, docking facility, passenger terminal, and access road.
According to DPWH Region 4B Director Wilfredo Mallari, phases 3 and 4 of the Cruise Port Facility are ongoing and are targeted to be completed this CY 2020.
“Once completed, the Cruise Port Facility can accommodate up to 10,000 passengers, added Director Mallari.
Puerto Princesa City is home to the Subterranean River National Park popularly known as Underground River which was listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999 and voted as a New 7 Wonders of Nature in 2012. The westernmost city in the Philippines is also the gateway to other popular tourist destinations in El Nido, San Vicente, and Taytay.
